“On a daily basis I obtain introductions to future clients, hold introductory interviews with potential clients, gather documents and assess current financial status of potential clients, and develop, present, implement and monitor client recommendations.”

Randy believes that starting a successful financial planning practice at the age of 22 has been his greatest accomplishment. And goes to say this about his UT Dallas education, “Outside of the immense respect my clients have for me when I tell them I graduated from UTD, the knowledge gained in Money and Capital Markets and Money and Banking has given me the financial language to display my financial knowledge.”

Concerning the employment process, Randy advises, “My suggestion is to start with yourself then rely on the professionals. I believe it all starts with an inward examination as to what makes you tick and gets you excited. From there, you convey those passions to an adviser at the Career Center and they will move you in the right direction. The two no-brainers are to have your resume reviewed and to strategically attend the career fairs.”

Randy realized the benefits of working with the Career Center. “My relationship with the Career Center developed during my Junior year in school. I sat down with an adviser and completed several personality and strong interest profiles. After narrowing my search, I obtained an internship in financial planning via CareerWorks. The resume I submitted, of course, was review by the Resume Editor. Following the internship, I studied the Spring Career Expo employer list and visited the 5 that were involved in my preferred field. I could not have asked for anything more from the Career Center.”
