FAMILY DAY 2019

Join us for Family Day!

Saturday, October 5, 2019 — Family Day is a UT Dallas tradition that brings students and their families together for a full day of fun. Meet other families, enjoy a catered lunch, and find out what's happening on campus! Rain or shine, we look forward to seeing everyone on campus for Family Day!

Please use this parking pass to park on campus for Family Day. Guests can park in any green, gold, or orange parking space. The opening program will be in the Edith O’Donnell Arts and Technology Building (ATC). A draft Family Day schedule can be found here.

Schedule of Events

Saturday, October 5

10:00AM – 11:00AM Residence Life Breakfast, families with a student living on campus can enjoy a light bagel breakfast in the lobby of all residence halls.

11:00AM – 2:00PM Check In, Edith O’Donnell Arts and Technology Building Lobby (ATC)

11:15AM – 12:00PM Opening Program

12:00 – 2:00PM Tailgate, Campus Mall
Lunch service will run from 12:00 – 2:00PM.

Tailgate Activities and Sponsors:
Chess: Challenge our nationally ranked chess team to a game at Chess Plaza!
Fraternity and Sorority Life: Challenge your student or another family to a game of giant Connect Four or giant Jenga.
Military Families Social: Mix and mingle with other military families in our reserved seating area sponsored by the Military and Veteran Center.
Office of Student Volunteerism: Volunteer with your student making uplifting cards to be donated to local children's hospitals. We hope to make 200 cards to spread cheer among patients while they're undergoing medical care. All supplies provided. OSV will also be collecting donations for an October Clothing Drive.
Photos with Temoc: Capture the day in a photo with our beloved mascot!
Student Organization Performances: See performances from the UT Dallas Horn Ensemble, UT Dallas Brass Ensemble, Comet Opera, Novis A Capella, African Student Union, 200PERCENT, and The Anime Orchestra Ensemble.
University Recreation: Challenge your student or another family to a game of bean bag toss.
Student Wellness Center: Adult coloring books and other stress reduction activities.

 

2:00PM – Visual and Performing Arts Showcase, Student Union Trellis
Enjoy performances by representatives of the UTD Theatre, UTDance Ensemble, UTD Music Department. Attendees can also go view the May You Survive in Interesting Times gallery exhibition located in the SP/N Gallery until 4:00PM.

5:00PM & 7:30PM – Women's & Men's Soccer Games
Cheer on your Comets! Tickets for this event will be in your welcome packet.

The Activity Center and Rec Center West will be available all day for use by students and their families. Closed toed shoes and a completed waiver are required to receive a day pass for these facilities. Additional waivers will be available at the front desk of each location.

Cost of Family Day

  • Free for UT Dallas students and children 11 and under.
  • $25 per person for family members.

Guests that still wish to attend Family Day, may register on-site in the Arts and Technology Building on October 5 between 11AM - 1PM. Please note, we will only be able to accept cash or check at that time.

If you are unable to attend Family Day, there will be more involvement opportunities throughout the year.
