Welcome to Financial Aid

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak efforts to support social distancing, the Office of the Financial Aid’s physical offices will be closed.

The Office of Financial Aid will be offering financial aid counseling via email [email protected] or via a scheduled telephone conference. If you would like to schedule a telephone call with a financial aid representative, please submit an online Meeting Request Form with your time preference and your contact information. We will then confirm the phone call time with you via email.

We are currently experiencing a high volume of emails and voicemail messages. Current estimated response time is two business days.

When contacting us, please use one of the options below. Sending duplicate messages has the unintended impact of delaying our response time.

  • If you have access to email, please email us from your UTD email address or use the form link above.
    • Please include your NetID or UTD-ID in the body of the email.
  • If you do not have access to email, you may leave a voicemail message at the telephone number listed under our contact information.
    • Be sure to leave your name and NetID or UTD-ID in your voicemail message. Please speak clearly and slowly when leaving your contact information.

We have multiple staff members responding to messages in order of receipt. We thank you for your patience during this busy time.

Summer 2020 Financial Aid

If you are planning to attend UT Dallas in the summer of 2020 you will need to inform us of your plans.  The application for summer financial aid is now available on our forms page.  The summer term is part of the 2019-2020 academic year for the purposes of receiving financial aid at UT Dallas, so if you have received financial aid in the fall or spring of this year at UT Dallas you have already submitted the correct FAFSA or TASFA.  If you received financial aid in the fall and spring at another school, and you haven’t already done so, you should correct the FAFSA to include UT Dallas as one of the schools to receive the results.

2020-2021 Financial Aid

The 2020-2021 FAFSA, used for fall 2020, spring 2021 and summer 2021, is now available online at  and the myStudentAid mobile app.   The priority deadline for prospective students beginning their UT Dallas studies in the fall 2020 semester is March 15, 2020.   The priority deadline for returning UT Dallas students is April 15, 2020.

Census Date

The financial aid census date for the summer 2020 term is June 10.  This is the census date for the entire semester, including second session classes.    The Office of the Registrar has different census dates than does the Office of Financial Aid. To be considered for financial aid eligibility you must have been registered for classes on our census date. To view other important academic dates, see the academic calendar.

Additional information regarding the eligibility requirements to receive financial aid can be found online at Eligibility.

Manage Your Money

Financial aid funds are disbursed in lump sums. This makes budgeting a critical part of most students’ lives. The federal government provides a great tool for creating a budget. Also, check out the Student Success Center’s Comet Cents program.

  • You must notify us if you are receiving federal or state grants or loans from another school while attending UT Dallas.
