The University of Texas at Dallas Alexa Pilot is a project designed to bring the usability and convenience of Amazon’s Alexa devices to enrich the experience of students, faculty, and staff. This is a collaboration between the Office of Information Technology, Student Affairs, and undergraduate and graduate students.
Alexa for Business simplifies meeting room experiences for UT Dallas employees. Alexa also enables you to simplify day-to-day tasks, build a smarter workplace, and provide a unique employee experience. By using voice commands, Alexa can be used to control conferencing systems, check room availability, and book rooms. For example, if you use voice to say, “Alexa, join my meeting,” Alexa locates the upcoming meeting from the calendar and connects you to the meeting.
Amazon Alexa, known simply as Alexa, is a virtual assistant developed by Amazon. Alexa is the voice behind millions of devices like Amazon Echo, Amazon Echo Dot, Amazon Echo Plus, Amazon Echo Spot, and Amazon Echo Show. Alexa leverages Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Natural Language Understanding (NLU) and 3rd party skills to create a personalized experience for users.
The UT Dallas News Center will provide flash news campus through voice interaction, and may be used by anyone (students, faculty, staff, and alumni) with a compatible Alexa device.
