OIT to offer Adobe Creative Cloud to faculty, staff

YOU ASKED and we delivered! After many months of negotiations, the Office of Information Technology is proud to announce its latest service: Adobe Creative Cloud (ACC) for UTD faculty and staff and ACC Site Licensing for UTD Equipment.

ACC is a cloud-based suite of programs that can be used to produce creative and innovative content. The suite includes PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere, Dreamweaver, Muse, Stock, and Animate.

Faculty and staff can use these programs for a variety of applications. The Adobe Creative Cloud roll out will go live on November 1st. Each license can have up to 2 installations for home use. Faculty and staff who wish to access Adobe Creative Cloud can request for it from the Atlas Self-Service Portal. Simply login, then select: Service Catalog, Software Services, Site Licensed Software, Request Adobe Create Cloud. The OIT Helpdesk is ready to answer questions and assist you with requesting a ACC license.

Wait there is more! Students of UTD: the Adobe site licensing also provides Adobe software for student’s to use in public access labs. This is a tremendous opportunity to produce professional level media.

A Q&A with billiards champion Niraj Thapa

OIT Database Administrator Niraj Thapa recently took home the Gold medal at the Corporate Challenge Billiards Tournament, whicch took place on Sept. 29.
Niraj and his billiards partner Anjan Selvam Panneer, a UTD research scientist, competed in the men’s team of the tournament.

Interview conducted by ChinLin Pan

How long have you been playing billiards? How did you first get into it?
Niraj: I’ve been playing billiards for the past 15 years. I started during my junior year of high school when my parents taught me.

How did you first hear about the tournament?
Niraj: My supervisor told me about the tournament.

How did you feel about entering the competition?
Niraj: I was nervous at first. But then I thought I’ve been playing Billiards for a long time and I should be okay. Also my partner was pretty good.

Congratulations on winning! How did you feel when you won?
Niraj: It was an honor to represent UTD. I’ve been here for only about two months. So it was a great feeling for being able to represent UTD and also win the Gold for this institution.

Please welcome Kishore Thakur to OIT!

Kishore Thakur is the new Associate Director of Systems and Operations. Kishore will be responsible for the Windows, Linux, Storage, Network and Telecommunication teams and will report to the Associate Vice President/CTO.

Prior to joining OIT, Kishore was the Director of Infrastructure Services at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago Illinois, where he was responsible for the IT Infrastructure systems that supported university campus, residence halls, and health clinics. Kishore has over 10 years of experience in Information Technology within higher education with deep background in networking and security.

Kishore earned two Masters degrees from Southern Illinois University, a Master of Business Administration degree and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science. Kishore also earned a Bachelor of Information Technology degree from Osmania University in India. He holds a Certified Ethical Hacker certification from EC-Council, a Certified Information Systems Security Professional certification from International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2, and is a graduate from Group on Information Resources (GIR) Leadership Institute of Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).

Kishore is excited to use his extensive education and experience in higher education IT to positively contribute to the continued success of UT Dallas.
